Outdoor Blog: Migratory Bird Treaty Update
President Joe Biden and his administration will restore The Migratory bird Treaty Act that was weakened under the Trump administration. The treaty is over a century old and was created to protect thousands of bird species from accidentally being killing, a term known as incidental take. An example of this law in action was seen in 2012 when the Deep-Water-Horizon rig accidentally spilt oil into the Gulf of Mexico. This disaster killed at least a hundred-thousand birds, and thus BP (the leasing company) was fined $100 million.
