Alberta Coal Update.

Alberta Coal Update.

Earlier this week the Alberta government reinstated the 1976 coal policy after thousands of Albertans voiced their opinions opposing coal development. So things are back to normal right? Unfortunately not, even though they reinstated and promised public consultation for a future coal policy things haven’t returned to normal. The leases that were given out after throwing the 1976 policy out are still in effect. It appears that this may be just another tactic the UCP is using to try and save face or deceive Albertans. We have seen this before when the UCP threw us a bone by cancelling 11 leases back in January.

As Alberta citizens who fish, hunt and use this public land for recreation we must remain vigilant on these issues to ensure the prosperity of our streams, forests and mountains.
